Gold rays emanating outward from a central point on a black background.

This is your invitation to pause.
To move, to breathe, to reconnect.
To step out of your routine and into something deeper.

This is more than a retreat.

It is a return to yourself.

We believe combining the practices of yoga and pilates is a beautiful blend of all of the elements in nature that you will also experience in Nosara.

Pilates will help you build strength from the inside out, increase flexibility, and improve posture. We will focus on balancing alignment, stability, and mobility for a whole body experience.

Yoga takes the practice inward to explore the inner layers of the self through breath, intention and flow.

Just like the sea meeting the jungle in Nosara, we feel yoga and pilates blending in this retreat will be a reset to rejuvenate and unlock your highest potential in body and spirit.

You have the choice to take as many or as few of each type of classes that suit your retreat journey.

People jumping off a boat into the water, with some on the boat and others in the water, on a sunny day with blue sky and distant mountains.

A Rhythm of Practice and Space

Your days will unfold with intention, morning movement, nourishing meals, and time to rest, explore, and integrate.

Spend your afternoons by the pool, walking the beach, or simply slowing down beneath the palms. Or choose to explore Nosara surfing, horseback riding or so many other activities.

There is space here to journal, to reflect, and to connect with others in a way that feels natural and unforced.

Whether you’re drawn to the ocean, the jungle, or stillness, this experience invites you to move at your own rhythm.

Each day begins with a dynamic pilates or yoga practice designed to awaken the body, build heat, and connect you to your breath. Throughout the retreat, you will have options to experience pilates or yoga practices or choose to integrate yourself in both.

Afternoons offer a softer landing, with restorative movement, meditation, and space for reflection, inviting you to slow down and integrate.

Daily Movement & Self-Discovery

A group of four diverse people practicing yoga outdoors on wooden deck in a forest setting, performing Cobra pose (Bhujangasana) on yoga mats, surrounded by trees and sunlight.
Daily Yoga & Self-Discovery

We have designed this retreat so you can explore many of the practices within yoga and pilates.

Yoga practices will include vinyasa, restorative, deep stretch, meditation, breath work and yoga nidra.

Each day we will offer Pilates classes that combine strength, form, alignment and mobility.

For a more comprehensive approach, we will have an additional option for Pilates reformer classes to connect deeper to the practice.

Jen and Melissa have been teaching for decades and come to you with the experience of teaching thousands of people . They have a gift for meeting their students where they are and making them feel at home within their own bodies.

Jen Fisher became a mother in 2003—the same year her own mother was diagnosed with stage 3-C ovarian cancer. At the time, she had been taking yoga classes in Raleigh here and there, but as she navigated the challenges of caring for her newborn daughter while supporting her mother through illness, yoga became more than just a practice—it became a refuge.

After five years of teaching children, Jen felt called to expand her teaching to adults. In 2010, she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with a local affiliate of Shiva Rea’s Samudra School. She then pursued her 500-hour certification with Shiva, traveling across the country to study with different teachers and immerse herself in a variety of yoga styles and philosophies.

With a background in hospitality and a love for travel, Jen naturally transitioned into leading yoga retreats. Since 2011, she has planned and hosted over 30 retreats in North Carolina, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic. Her retreats go beyond just yoga and travel; they foster deep connections, creating soulful experiences where strangers become lifelong friends.

Today, Jen teaches yoga in Raleigh, NC, offering classes at The Studio at 1104 West Cabarrus Street in Raleigh, Yoga Off East in Durham and offers workshops at various studios around the Triangle. She also shares her teachings through her YouTube channel, where students can access a variety of practices from anywhere.

Melissa Kakavas is the founder of Remedy Movement Pilates Studio in North Carolina and a passionate educator, movement teacher, and advocate for the transformative power of Pilates. With more than 30 years of teaching experience and 16 years in Pilates teacher education, Melissa has built a community centered on quality, expertise, connection, and authentic mind-body movement.

Melissa leads North Carolina’s largest Pilates teacher training program through the world reknown Balanced Body Education and works alongside a team of highly experienced instructors dedicated to helping others discover the intelligence and joy of movement.

Her teaching is grounded in Joseph Pilates' traditional method, enhanced by a modern approach developed through her many years of teaching. She believes that movement is more than exercise—it is a way to reconnect with ourselves, cultivate awareness, and create greater ease in both body and life. Melissa brings a warm, intuitive, and deeply personal approach to her teaching, creating an environment where students feel both challenged and supported.

At the retreat, Melissa invites participants to reconnect with the body through a thoughtful and invigorating Pilates practice—while embracing the beauty, magic, and energy of Costa Rica.
